Born and raised on Cape Breton Island, Michele has been playing piano and singing since early childhood. She began performing publicly at age 10 in musicals, recitals and continued throughout her high school years to being paid for events such as weddings, fashion shows and community concerts. Michele studied Jazz for two years at ST. Francis Xavier University before traveling, working and playing in Europe for four years. It was during this period that Michele began to compose and hone her songwriting skills.
Michele continued to work on her performing chops in such places as Prague, Antigua, Montreal, Halifax and her home island of Cape Breton playing piano bars, cruise ships, even restaurants, markets and so many various gigs that she has evolved into a seasoned and smooth performer with a keen ability to connect with her audience and improvise.
The release of Michele's debut c.d. Bucket of Honey in September of 2009 is a proud accomplishment for this young jazz, blues and soul ingenue. She has a great depth of musicality and this is highlighted as her smooth and intense voice meld with great lyrics and bold bluesy piano. Michele currently performs with Swiss Canadian bassist, Danick Clavel creating a sultry, gutsy female duo with lots of intimate feel and groove. Michele is hitting her stride and striking a chord with all who hear her and leaves the impression that music is her heart and soul. Michele will continue performing and promoting her album into 2010 and has a strong desire to return to the studio and record a sophomore album!
