Susan Picking is a Midwestern gal with pacific Western cool. Originally haling from Michigan, Susan worked her way westward via ski slopes and airplanes. She now calls Long Beach, California home. Picking’s first CD Down in Your Soul was well received, followed up by a 3 track demo Take Three. After her Spring 2009 “Wonder in The Wonder Tour”, her song, of the same title, placed 2nd at The RiverFolk Songwriting competition in Manchester, Michigan. She is currently at work on her 2nd full length CD. This song “Why” will be included on this release. Picking is a piano playing, ukulele strumming lyricist. Her moving melodies and stirring lyrics reflect a deep soul. Susan’s songs are about life, but not as we usually think of life. She cajoles the listener to see the quirky underbelly. Her wistful wit comes through a voice rich with lovely cadences. That’s where you might catch a glimpse of her Irish Heritage.
